Every spoon has been coated with food grade safe minerals to protect the wood and bring out the natural wood grain. Over time with use and washing, the spoon will become dry and will need additional coats of food safe minerals. This is easy to acquire, normal and important to take care of your spoon to prevent cracking or breaking. Handwash only in warm soapy water and do not leave in water for a prolonged period of time.
